Business Development professional in the “BioBased Economy” selling in a broad range of industries. 

B4Plastics, based in Dilsen-Stokkem, is looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial Business Development professional. Do you want to contribute in an exceptional way in a strong innovative firm by developing and commercializing biobased/biodegradable sustainability projects?


Responsibilities and tasks  

  • You will be responsible for Business Development activities in the European and surrounding markets by bringing ‘prospects to order’
  • Your created and planned meetings and presentations with clients/prospects are in a broad range of sectors and industries as cosmetics, textiles, shoes, packaging, agro, garden products, … First contacts are preferably on C-level, mostly industrial decision makers in Business Development, R&D, Managing directors.
  • As you keep a close eye on market development you will map new key accounts in different market sectors and on selected Technology Platforms of B4Plastics, maintaining a well-developed pipeline of prospects. You use your knowledge and network to increase market share by demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the customers’ business and competitive market.
  • You are responsible for negotiations making proposals and deals towards prospects/clients developing strong relationships and will internally translate customer unmet needs towards R&D and other departments to find appropriate solutions together to optimize the sales efforts.
  • You will also work closely with the current business development/commercial team consisting of the managing director, business development director,  existing and new business development managers marcom responsible and lead qualification.
  • You will track all business development activities in the CRM system updating accounts and will report to the Managing Director/Business Development Director regarding your results and targets.


Your skills and personal characteristics 

  • Bachelor or master’s degree or equal by experience, with experience and strong affinity to the sector of biobased and biodegradable polymers. Preferably with a scientific/technical working experience/interest, as the bridge to the business of B4Plastics must be made.
  • 4-8 years working experience in new business development from the ground up towards industrial firms and companies with clear commercialisation successes and track record on building up long term relation- ships with prospects/clients.
  • Experience in an independent and self-motivated role: entrepreneurial in a scale up environment, creative, self-reliant, energetic, structured, team oriented.
  • Negotiate in a commercial environment: identify sales opportunities and act on them, make powerful arguments and persuade with perseverance, deal with resistance, strong business acumen finding quick solutions or alternatives to customer objections. Ability to judge projects on their probability of success and potential financial attractiveness.
  • Strong evidence of customer-led behaviour and relation building skills: able to establish relations to all levels as well with clients and in the B4Plastics organization.
  • Good communication and presentations skills with impact both verbal and written being fluent in Dutch/English. German knowledge could be an asset. Used to work with MS Office tools and CRM systems for reporting.

For the moment the #greenteam at B4P has grown to over 25 FTE: the (further) scaling up to a specialty biomaterials company is our next taskforce in the coming years.  The company wants to make the difference, being a real game changer in society regarding biomaterials sustainability on an international scale.
