B4Plastics, Headquartered in Dilsen-Stokkem and Hubbed in Gent, is looking for an ambitious sales manager willing to lead the sales team after proven own sales results. Do you want to contribute in a scale up with world-new sustainable biomaterials?

Responsibilities and tasks

– The sales organisation of B4Plastics exists of 2 major types of business: 1) Labo & Prototyping projects named Screen&Scale,1g-1kg (Screen) and 1-1000kg (Scale) non-recurrent business of worldwide unique customised products, IP generating; 2) Catalogue multi-ton recurrent products, B4Plastics proprietary sold by distributors or direct by supply/license agreements. In a first stage you will be sales manager in the second type of business in a broad range of industries such as cosmetics, textiles, shoes, garden products, packaging, agro, ….
Upon proven sales results after a short period (before the end of 2023) you will succeed the managing director who is currently also leading the sales and you will be the Head of Sales of both divisions leading 4 people in sales, marcom, and lead qualification.
– Leading both divisions means showing sales leadership towards the salespeople with drive and motivation, groups dynamics, creating a winning deal culture raising the bar with a coaching and participative attitude.
– In the slightly longer term you will create a go-the-market strategy with all relevant stakeholders and a fit for future sales plan for the whole organisation from business case to implementation. You will translate this strategy towards operational goals for the whole sales team initiating a clear growth mindset and set up of sales targets.
You closely monitor market trends and identify new key accounts in various market sectors, maintaining a well-developed pipeline of prospects that you continue to sell yourself. You use your knowledge to increase market share by demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of the customers’ business and the competitive market.
– You will also work closely with the other departments such as R&D and the whole management to improve external communication and service by optimising internal processes, project management and budget control. You will track all sales activities in the CRM system, update the accounts and report to the Managing Director regarding your sales results and targets.

Your skills and personal characteristics

– Master’s degree or equal by experience, with strong chemical background, network, and material knowledge in polymers or at least a technical experience to understand the technical key elements that make the connection with the business of B4Plastics that lead to sales successes.
– Proven track record in sales for at least 10 years in sectors of polymers, plastics, raw materials, granulate business or in chemical industry selling towards bigger corporates and brand owners building up long term relationships with prospects/clients.
– As you will become Head of Sales after proven sales results you have a first experience in managing a smaller but high qualified team of salespeople (4-5FTE – before the end of 2023) consisting of marcom, sales and inside sales and lead qualification.
– From your previous experience (sales road maps, …) you are able to create a go-to-market strategy to professionalise and manage a sales business unit towards a next step for growth. In the future you are capable to create a future-proof business plan for the entire sales organisation. In doing so, you inoculate novel bioplastics in a fossil world.
– As the business consists of 2 major types of business you have strong affinity towards both with a clear entrepreneurial spirit and affinity to the business dynamics in a scale-up and fast-growing business environment. The fossil world is simply too slow to anticipate your biomaterials sales dynamics.
– Good communication and presentation skills with impact both verbally and in writing and fluent in Dutch/English. Knowledge of German could be an asset. Used to work with MS Office tools and CRM systems for reporting.

The existing business and turnover comes from customers who are world leading brand owners and from major chemical & material corporates. B4Plastics is currently innovating with more than hundred active R&D partners.

With a project to make fishing nets biodegradable B4Plastics won end of 2021 the prestigious Swedish environment award Curt Bergfors Food Planet Prize with a value of 2 Mio USD.

For the moment there are 25 people working in B4Plastics but with the major current investment of the Lindal Group and the European Innovation Council by the Green Deal program there is a factory planned up to 7000m2 to become fully operational in the coming years to become the first specialty “biomaterials-on-demand” production hub, supported by the Excellence Centre and a dynamic and flexible specialty production staff of at least 100 FTE – in Belgian Limburg.
