Sustainable solutions take the stage!

October 2, 2024

As we reach the 3/4 point of 2024, it’s clear this year is more about the “Green Feel” than the “Green Deal”. Major brands have stepped back from their sustainability goals, while issues like affordability and migration are taking over European elections.

Still, the Green Deal has survived and is now moving forward with new strength.

At B4Plastics, after 6 years of research and development, we’re ready to support the pioneering companies that are already taking action.   Our materials offer the best mix between functionality, sustainability, and cost. It’s never been easier to make your products greener.

RePlastics®

Recyclability combined with non-persistence

We are excited to introduce the newest addition to our Technology Family: RePlastics.

With RePlastics, we boost the short-cycling carbon in novel materials, especially derived from post-consumer waste streams. This promotes circular carbon loops in and outside materials applications, bringing raw materials savings to a next level. Our first product in RePlastics, CYCLAN®, is a groundbreaking recyclable material designed for textiles, substituting classical polyester, containing over 50% renewable carbon and leaving no microplastics behind. It opens up a new circular world of man-made fibers,f ilaments and articles for a very wide spectrum of applications.

Polyamide vs. FORTAMID®: The Key Differences in Textiles

We have successfully produced our first yarns with FORTAMID®

When choosing textiles, understanding the material’s properties is essential for selecting the best option for durability, sustainability, and environmental impact. Polyamide and FORTAMID® are two high-performance fabrics that share similar functional characteristics but differ significantly in one crucial aspect: environmental footprint.

Polyamide in Textiles:

  • Synthetic Fabric: Polyamide is a synthetic polymer made from petrochemicals.
  • Durability and Strength: It is known for its exceptional durability, making it resistant to wear and tear.
  • Shape Retention: It retains its shape well, meaning it resists stretching or sagging.
  • Wrinkle-Free: It is wrinkle-resistant, maintaining a smooth appearance.
  • Environmental Concern: One major drawback of polyamide is that, like other synthetic fabrics, it sheds microplastics when washed and worn, contributing to ocean pollution, shrinking biodiversity and human health issues.

FORTAMID® in Textiles:

  • Biobased Natural Fabric: FORTAMID® is a revolutionary fabric with an improved footprint and a major boost in non-persistence: microfibrils break the 6-months speed record in ASTMD5988-18 tests.
  • Durability and Strength: It is durable and strong, standing up to everyday wear and tear.
  • Shape Retention: It also maintains its shape, ensuring long-lasting performance.
  • Wrinkle-Free: It is wrinkle-resistant, providing a sleek, polished look.
  • Eco-Friendly Advantage: The key difference lies in FORTAMID®’s environmental impact. It’s microplastics do not survive longer than a year in the open environment, making it more sustainable and the no-brainer eco-conscious choice.

“Our recent visit in Taiwan confirmed that innovative fibers boost sustainability”

🌏 Last week, we made our debut at the Taiwan International Fiber Expo (TIFE), presenting on “A New Generation of Man-Made Fibers: Reducing Footprint, enhancing Recyclability, and promoting Biodegradability in Polyester and Polyamide Yarns.”

👊 The event was a great success! We identified several promising product-market opportunities where these innovative fibers can significantly boost sustainability, aligning with future regulations and supporting Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) initiatives.

🚚 Our first shipments of materials have already started and orders are now open. ☝☝☝ Don’t miss your chance to be the first one in your market!
