Offering the best controlled end-of-life solutions.

HUMICUR®

HUMICUR® is one of the latest, innovative, eco-friendly materials developed by B4Plastics for industries seeking controlled biodegradability in their products. Made primarily from hemicellulose side streams, HUMICUR® is currently 60% bio-based with plans to reach 100%. It offers a new standard in biodegradability, ideal for applications like e.g. underground (drainage) tubing and agricultural applications. HUMICUR®’s biodegradation can be monitored and controlled to break down predictably in various environments, reducing environmental impact.

Non-persistency

Steerable between 6 months and 30 years

Benefit from high functionality with exceptional
sustainability features:

Future-focused biodegradability detection and prediction

Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) suggest HUMICUR® could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50% compared to petrochemical counterparts, with even greater reductions anticipated. The material shows very high performance in applications like tubing, offering excellent pressure resistance and ductility.

Degradation Curve

Non-Persistence is a relatively new term for slow but complete biodegradation.

Slow biodegradation is any degradation that falls outside existing certification
(up to 24 months).

B4Plastics products are developed to combine longevity for durable wear-out applications with controlled (sufficiently slow) biodegradability.

Production Facilities

Pilot Plants up to 10-ton customized production per week.In TRL stages 5 to 8, we scale from kg to ton scale in 4 sequential steps, if necessary.
Our stainless-steel plants can typically handle high viscous polymeric materials under increased temperature and pressure.

HUMICUR® is a product of our TriggerPlastics technology.

Micro-plastics are unavoidable; due to wear and tear, plastics disintegrate and end up in the environment. One moment plastics should offer performance in the application; the next moment the generated microplastics need to be gone, for instance by means of the stimulus or ‘triggers’ applied to them such as our TriggerPlastics. Our TriggerPlastics act as: Substitutes for Polyolefins, PVOH and PEG.
